Approximately 4000 people live in West Coast (M) area in roughly 3000 dwellings, with the average household size of around 2.1 people.
The West Coast Council area is mainly rural, with some urban areas in the small townships of Queenstown, Rosebery, Strahan, Tullah and Zeehan. Forestry, fishing, mining and tourism are important industries over here.
